People, owners and nominees

Who owns what, and who inherits it.

Contacts

People are stored once in Settings › Data › People & Contacts and then reused wherever they are needed. You appear automatically as a contact, using the name you set up.

Ownership

Every asset and liability is either sole or joint. Sole records belong to you unless you say otherwise; joint records can name any combination of contacts.

The Net Worth by Owner report groups by exact combination — everything you own alone, everything you own with your spouse, and so on — so each item is counted once and the groups add up to your total.

Nominees

You can name primary and contingent nominees on any asset. These appear in the Estate Planning Asset List and the Family Handoff Dossier.

Worth an annual check Nominee details on real accounts drift out of date after marriages, births and deaths — and the nominee named at the institution overrides anything a will says for many account types. Recording them here gives you a single list to check once a year.

Why the app asks for your name

It is printed on your reports and used to label the records you own. It stays on your device and in your own iCloud, like everything else.
