Security and privacy

Where your data lives, and who can reach it.

Where your data is

On your device, and in your own private iCloud. There is no WorthSafe account, no WorthSafe server, and no copy of your figures anywhere we can see. Nobody at WorthSafe can read your data, because there is nowhere for us to read it from.

The only thing that ever leaves your device is a request for exchange rates, which contains no information about you or your holdings.

App Lock

In Settings › Security & Privacy, App Lock requires Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode each time the app is opened or brought back from the background.

The lock takes effect immediately when you leave the app, so nothing is readable from the app switcher. Anything you were in the middle of typing is preserved — you come back to the same screen, not to the Dashboard.

App Lock needs a device passcode Face ID and Touch ID are built on it. If your device has no passcode set, iOS has nothing to fall back on and the option cannot be enabled.

iCloud sync

Your records sync across your devices through your own iCloud account, in a private database only you can reach. Sign in to the same Apple Account on each device and they keep themselves in step.

If something has not appeared on another device, check that iCloud Drive is on and that both devices are signed in to the same account. Sync can take a little time on a slow connection.

Legacy access

Because your data lives in your iCloud, an Apple Legacy Contact is the mechanism that lets a family member reach it if something happens to you. The Security screen links to Apple's setup for this. The Family Handoff Dossier covers the other half — a document they can actually read and act on.

Deleting your data

Deleted assets and liabilities go to Settings › Data › Deleted Items, where you can restore them or remove them for good. Delete All My Data on the Security screen clears everything, on the device and in iCloud.
