Adding assets
Eight categories, and how much detail is worth entering.
The categories

What to fill in
The screens put the fields that matter first: what it is, where it is held, and what it is
worth. Everything below that is useful but optional.
- Name — how you will recognise it in a list. If you pick an institution first, the app
suggests a name for you.
- Institution — the bank, broker, or dealer. Adding one here makes it available
everywhere else, and powers the Institution Exposure report.
- Value and currency — see Foreign currency if it is not
in your base currency.
- Value as of — leave it at today unless you are entering an older statement.
Details worth adding eventually
- Account or policy numbers, so the record is actually actionable by someone else.
- Owners and nominees — see People, owners and nominees.
- Maturity and renewal dates, which feed the Upcoming Dates report and expiry
alerts.
- Storage location for physical items, so the household inventory is useful for
insurance.
- Documents — a photo of a statement, deed, or valuation.
Foreign holdings
Mark an asset as a foreign holding and it appears in the Foreign Accounts report, which
shows each balance in its own currency alongside your base currency. Several countries require
residents to declare accounts held abroad, and this report gives you the list in one place.
Editing later
Open any asset and tap Edit. Changing the value records a new entry in its history, so
your growth trend stays complete. Changing anything else — a name, an account number — does not
create a history entry.
