Getting started

A few minutes of setup, then your first records.

What WorthSafe is for

WorthSafe keeps a private record of everything you own and owe, in one place, so you can answer three questions at any time: what am I worth today, what has changed, and could someone else find all of this if they had to?

It is a record-keeper, not a bank connection. Nothing is linked to your accounts and no balances are fetched automatically — you enter values, and the app remembers them and shows you the picture they add up to.

The five tabs

TabWhat it does
DashboardYour totals right now, and the button to update values.
AssetsEverything you own, grouped by category.
LiabilitiesEverything you owe.
ReportsEleven reports you can read, print, or share as a PDF.
SettingsYour name, base currency, security, and reference data.

First-run setup

  1. Your name. Used for asset ownership, nominees, and the heading on every report. You can change it any time in Settings by tapping your name.
  2. Base currency. Every total in the app is shown in this currency. Pick the one you think in day to day. Exchange rates are fetched once you have chosen.
  3. App Lock. Turning this on requires Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to open the app. See Security and privacy.
Choose your base currency carefully You can change it later, but any values you have already recorded were saved against the old base currency. Reports for past dates then have to re-convert them at today's rate, because the rate that applied back then was never recorded. The app warns you before you make the change.

Adding your first records

Tap Assets and then +. Start with the accounts you check most often — a current account, a savings account, a pension or brokerage account. Then add your largest debts under Liabilities.

Fill in the name, the value, and the currency. Everything else is optional and can be added later; the app never blocks you for a missing field.

Want to look around first? Settings › Data › Load Sample Data fills the app with a realistic imaginary portfolio so you can explore every screen and report. Remove Sample Data takes it all out again and leaves anything you added untouched.
